Nigeria Blog Pt. 3 – A Photographer’s Perspective

nigerian-childrenWhen Africa is mentioned in America there are many images that come to mind due to the movies and documentaries on National Geographic. Images of lions, zebras, colorful clothing and grass huts are sure to emerge in your thoughts if you’ve grown up in America.  These images are correct for some areas of Africa, however I’m seeing through another lens after having now visited the people of Nigeria. I’ve eaten and slept in their homes.

My new friend Bidemi

My new friend Bidemi

I’ve traveled their roads, taken pictures of their children and been blessed beyond measure by their passion for God, family and life. They respect their elders and honor their families with a level of love and intensity that will humble anyone with a heart in their chest.  I’m seeing through the lens as the tears of joy and love well up in the eyes of my team each time they embrace the children that surround them.  You will without a doubt be overcome with emotion at some point within your travels here when you truly see what happens in the life of a Nigerian on a day to day basis.

If you are wanting to learn a new perspective of love then I’d like to encourage you to invest a little time with The MOYA Foundation. You will be serving these people who love with every fiber of their being and you will be forever changed by love.

Feel free to check back frequently as we will be sharing pictures, videos and blog entries from our perspectives here in Nigeria. The pictures will certainly stir the same love and emotion our team felt.

Blessings,
Jacob Wood

Logo We are dedicated to helping children with Autism, Down Syndrome, and Deafness by establishing education and therapy centers in developing countries. The fact that these children live with special challenges in no way changes their desire for the love and interaction of those around them. Our goal is to institute an understanding worldwide that all children deserve every opportunity and the tools necessary to succeed in life.
